Both versions of the brush work great--but I am very happy with the increase in volume (still with great definition) that I achieved with the Volume EdgeLift. Easy to clean, too.
I just got the brush today so I can’t speak to its longevity, but so far the first time using it went very well. I don’t really notice more volume (I have fine hair that is low porosity so my hopes weren’t high) BUT it does define my hair better than the original brush because it breaks my clumps into smaller, tighter sections so that does help it look nicer. Unfortunately, the original brush kept losing the bristles with the balls on top so I stopped using it. The pad on this brush does feel stronger so I’m really hoping it doesn’t have that problem. The brush looks and feel great in the hand and in my hair. Overall it feels like a great quality brush. I enjoyed using it and will update on the quality of the bristles after some time has passed. I also used it in my 3c baby’s hair and it looked gorgeous!! Wonderful invention, Merian <3
I got this brush out of curiosity. I've been pretty happy with the defining brush but wanted to see how much more volume I could get. With my 2a/2b pattern, it's hard for my waves to stay voluminous and defined. This brush is smaller and even more comfortable due to the small spacing. With this brush I suggest using smaller sections. I used it last night and got awesome results with just the curl cream from this brand and a mousse from another one. My wave pattern stayed intact! If you like the defining brush, you'll like the volume one!
